Slayn

Character Name: Slayn Vandole
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Class: Priest (specifically a priest of the Goddess Iridia)

Special equipment or abilities we should know about and why you should let that stuff in: Slayn has a pendant in the shape of a faery, which he wears below his tunic, that automatically regenerates his damaged flesh at a rapid speed. (Resting for a night means he will awaken fully healed; in battle, it will heal light scratches or abrasions, but any serious wounds will require either external influence or a large amount of time to rest. Obviously, if you stab him in the stomach, rip the blade through his side, and blast him with a fireball, he won't just laugh it off and come at you like nothing happened. :p)

Abilities/ powers: Slayn is a priest of the Goddess Iridia, who presides over water, air, and ice. She grants him the power to control rainstorms, blowing wind, and freezing ice, simply by speaking a small prayer to call fort her powers in material form. He can use the powers of the wind for healing purposes, the water for that of cleansing toxins, and the ice to form a barrier to ward off attackers; as well as applying these forces in combat to blast his enemies back with a gust of wind, douse fire with a ball of water, or shoot a barrage of icicles toward his foes.

Flaws: As with any elementalist, his powers are weak to the opposite element; namely, fire bests his ice, while lightning bests his water. He also must invoke the Goddess' powers, rather than calling on an inherent magic within himself, so he is reliant on her will to coincide with his own.

Weapons: Slayn uses a staff for both combat and practical purposes. It is black wood with a Blue-Green teardrop-shaped crystal about the size of his fist at the top, with a silver ring just between the crystal and the wood. Both the ring and crystal seem to hang in midair, and are magically tied to the staff by invisible energies, making it move as if they were attached directly.

Description: Slayn is approximately 6'4" tall, with a fairly muscular physique. He has long black hair down to his waist, jet-black eyes, and pale skin. He wears solid black leather boots, pants, fingerless gloves, and chestpiece, with several belts fastening each piece securely in place. Beneath this light armor, he wears a pendant in the form of a faery. His left hand bears the iridescent image of a spiderweb with an eye set in the middle, located on the back of the hand. Over his armor, he wears a nondescript tattered brown cloth, which drapes nearly to his ankles. He often seems melancholy, and seldom displays emotions, regardless of what he may feel.

History: Slayn is a mysterious man who remembers nothing of his past. The only clues he has are a strange pendant in the shape of a faery, the staff he wields, and a strange tome titled 'The Glory of Iridia', which details the works and powers of the Goddess. Slayn has since decided that he must have been a priest, and whenever he calls on the Goddess' power, she responds instantaneously to his every wish. He presently wanders from town to town as a healer, mending wounds and curing the sick, while searching for clues as to his own identity, and purpose.

Personality: Slayn is a nice enough man on the outside, always aiding those who require healing in the villages he passes and telling them the wonders of his Goddess... as well as the horrors that await those who dare scorn her name. He tends to speak calmly even in the bleakest or most stressful situations, but is often pessimistic when it comes to things like this. He speaks in vague terms and possibilities, avoiding direct answers whenever possible. He also has an intense hatred for dwarves, though the reason for this is unknown.

Roleplay Sample:
(I should sooooooooooo cast Magic Missile on the Darkness...)
Slayn looked around the city, sitting at the edge of the fountain in the Town Square. Several children and a couple adults approached him as he sat in quiet contemplation, noticing the staff he held over his lap as rather out of the ordinary; something typically found with a priest or a wizard. As they drew nearer, they noticed a little girl who had just fallen to the ground and landed rather hard against the sharp stone corner of one of the benches, and now had blood running down her face from the wound. Slayn looked up and turned his head to see what had caused the attention, having been ignorant to the girl's crying until now. Seeing the blood running down her face, Slayn smiled, and walked over to her. "Are you hurt, little girl?" He asked, though it was obvious what the answer was. She nodded slowly, still crying incessantly. Slayn nodded, then placed a hand over her head, chanting out a small prayer, mentioning Iridia and her power to heal wounds. In a moment, he stopped, and to everyone's surprise, the girl suddenly stopped crying; her wound had been completely healed. She attempted to hug Slayn for healing her, but he stopped this gesture by putting a hand on her head and holding her at arm's length. "You should wash the blood off your face now... it shouldn't hurt anymore, though." The girl nodded and ran off toward her home, leaving Slayn to deal with the looks of awe from the villagers. Perhaps they had never seen a priest before? He shrugged, taking his staff up in his left hand as he walked back over to the bench he had occupied, taking a seat, and placing the staff acros his lap. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms, sighing. When would people learn to take care of themselves...?
